William E. "Bill" Rodden



Bill Rodden was born on January 3, 1929 in Lubbock, Texas to Pleas W. Rodden and Leona Talley Rodden. He grew up in Darnell, West Carroll Parish, Louisiana. He was a resident of Monroe, Louisiana for over 50 years before moving to Salem, Oregon in 2003. He died on July 18, 2011 in Salem, Oregon after a lengthy illness.

During the Korean War, Bill served his country as a member of the Air Force. After returning from service, he worked at Ouachita National Bank (now Chase Bank) as a loan officer and branch manager. He was ordained as a deacon at First Baptist Church in West Monroe, Louisiana.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Sammie Burgess Rodden, his daughter, Tara Rodden Robinson and his son-in-law, W. Douglas Robinson, both of Corvallis, Oregon.

A Memorial celebration of his life will be held at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, 623 Hwy 80 East, Monroe, in the Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the building fund of West Hills Community Church, 1650 Brush College Rd. NW, Salem, Oregon 97304.
