Mrs. Pankey is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Emery Tooke and Bessie Lee Roberts Tooke; husband of 59 years, Joseph Woodrow Pankey, Sr.; son, Joseph W. "Woody" Pankey, Jr; brothers, Charles E. Tooke, Jr. and Jack Roberts Tooke.

Survivors: Daughter-in-law, Phyllis Brister Pankey of Mandeville, LA, Son, Lee Roberts Pankey and wife Sharon of Monroe; Grandchildren, Joseph Marvin Pankey and wife Lea Lea, Ronald Jack Pankey, Jay Todd Pankey, Sarah Pankey Fisher and husband Rawleigh, Katherine Pankey Hoglund and husband Matthew; Great Grandchildren, Kali and Madison Pankey, Graeme, Libby and Liam Fisher; and Colin Hoglund; brother-in-law, Harry Pankey and wife, Carolyn; numerous very special nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Pankey was born in DeRidder, La, Sept. 25, 1914, lived in Arcadia and Ruston. She was a graduate of Ruston H.S. in 1931 and La. Polytechnic Inst. in 1937, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She taught 5th grade in Franklin Parish School System. Kat married Joe W. Pankey, Dec. 27, 1938, lived in Ruston and Winnsboro, La. until 1998, moving to Monroe and West Monroe.

Sarah Katherine Tooke Pankey, affectionately known as Nanny, Kat, or Aunt Kat, lived a full life as a devoted wife, loving mother and teacher to all. Kat was continually active in the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro, as a Sunday school teacher, Bible studies leader, and she ministered to assisted living residents. Kat gave countless hours of support and encouragement to her beloved husband Joe and their sons, Woody and Lee, whether at the golf course, baseball park, during scouting activities or while fishing on Lake St. John. Her "boys" were her life.

Her incredibly tested strength endured through her steadfast faith in God. Our family will remember her devotion and unconditional love, friends will remember her faithful companionship and decades of correspondence, and may we all remember the Christian values she exemplified.

I would like to personally thank Sharon, Phyllis and Catherine for being true daughters to my wonderful mom, to Johnny for adopting her and to Terri for serving special communions.

The family extends its deepest gratitude for the outstanding personal care given by Dr. Don Hammett and staff and by the wonderful professionals of The Arbor and Terrace, Medistar Home Health and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Methodist Children's Home P. O. Box 929 Ruston, LA 71273.

The family would like to invited friends to gather at the home of Lee and Sharon Pankey at 4:30 PM following the services.
