Funeral services for Mr. Beverly Bayles Handy, Jr. will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop with Reverend Henry Stone officiating. Interment will follow at the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Beverly Bayles "BB" Handy, Jr. was born December 15, 1927 in Monroe, Louisiana to the late Beverly Bayle Handy and Ethel Horton Handy and he passed away November 20, 2012 in Bastrop, Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Byrnie Smith.
Mr. Handy was cattleman, farmer, and a member of the Reily Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of both Ouachita Parish High School and L.S.U. where he earned a Bachelors of Science degree in 1948 in Animal Industry. While a student at L.S.U. he was a member of the Block and Bridle Club and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was an avid fan of the L.S.U. Tigers and he especially enjoyed supporting his sons in their athletic endeavors.
Mr. Handy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Ann Savage Handy; three sons, Biff Handy and wife, Brenda, John Handy and wife, Susie, William Handy and wife, Jill; ten grandchildren, Dr. Adam Handy, Ruth Ann Moore and husband, Brian, Joseph Handy and wife, Jessica, Abigail Berry and husband, Kevin, John Patrick Handy, II and wife, Juliana, Cason Handy, Reid Handy, Luke Handy, Skylar Robinson, and Chandler Robinson; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Moore, Owen Moore, Layla Grace Berry, and Evangeline Handy; nephew, Robert E. Smith and a niece, Catherine Nobile.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons, Adam Handy, Joseph Handy, John Patrick Handy, II, Cason Handy, Reid Handy, Luke Handy, and Chandler Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert E. Smith, William "Buddy" Savage, On Van Nguyen, Jimmy Ray Carter, Chris Carter, and Jon Paul Carter.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon until time for services Wednesday, November 21st, at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop.
