Charles Lewis Mims

Charles Lewis Mims, a retired District Manager for International Harvester Company, died on Saturday, December 8, 2012. He was 91 years old. Mr. Mims served in the military for four years. He lived in Metairie after retiring the latter part of 1978 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

For many years, he was active in several singles organizations and was a volunteer at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Jefferson Performing Arts Society and the Second Harvest Food Bank. He was also a volunteer pianist at East Jefferson General Hospital. Mr. Mims was a graduate of LSU where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

Mr. Mims is survived by his sister, Carolyn Turner and his three nieces, Diane Bruno, Lou Bufkin and Joyce Thompson. He was preceded in death by one brother, four sisters and by his parents, William David Mims and Lula McWilliams Mims.

A Memorial Service will be held at Parkway Presbyterian Church, 6200 Camphor Street in Metairie, LA on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Tom Paine will officiate. Interment will be in the church's memorial garden. There will be a time of receiving friends after the service.
