Willie Larkin III

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Larkin III of Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, at First Missionary Baptist Church.

Born on October 22, 1932 in Oak Ridge, Louisiana to the late Jesse B. Givins Larkin and late Willie Larkin Sr., Willie Larkin III came from a large, loving family. He accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully served the Lord until he departed this life on Tuesday, January 1, 2012 at the age of 80. Family, faith and industry were the cornerstones of the life of Willie Larkin, III. From his wife and children to familiy, friends and people he met for the first time, he always found ways to bring joy and make a difference.

Willie graduated from Eula D. Britton High School in Rayville, LA and attended Southern University & A&M College, where he graduated six months early with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Biological Science. Following graduation, Willie served his country as a member of the United States Army in the Korean War.

Willie Larkin was a successful educator, mentor, consultant and exceptional entrepreneur. Willie loved how the company he helped start and grow with his long-time friend and business partner helped people take charge of their health and trained a future generation of entrepreneurs. He believed in their mission and felt honored to serve in this special way. But he always put family first.

Everywhere he lived, Willie made faith in God the foundation of his home. In Chicago, Willie became an ordained deacon of the church at Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church on under the leadership of Rev. E.F. Ledbetter. When he and his wife Versie moved their family back to Monroe Louisiana, they became members of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and finally First Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of his life-long friend, Rev. Andrew Julius Mansfield. All of his life, Willie looked to God for direction and thanked Him for his blessings.

His family is comforted that he's now with his mother and father Mr. & Mrs. Willie Larkin II, son Keith Larkin and eldest sister Mary Larkin Butler (the late Scott Butler) who all preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and dedicated wife of 52 years, Versie Mae Cook Larkin, his daughters Kristi Larkin, Ingrid Larkin, Glenda C. Willis (Albert Sr.), sons Kerby Larkin, Creighton Larkin, Christopher Larkin (Dr. Joi Freemont); grandchildren Katrina C. Willis, Albert Willis Jr. (Juli); great-grandchildren Darrell Deshaun Willis, LaShay Willis, Chandler Willis, Ian Willis; sisters, Alma B. Larkin Jenkins, Mable Lee Larkin Boyd, (Thurman Boyd), Annette Larkin; brothers Elbert Larkin, Charles Larkin, Jimmy Alexander (Jerlene); two aunts Lizzie T.
