John Machon, 94, of New Haven, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2012 at the Arden House Health & Rehab, Hamden. John was born in New Haven on April 8, 1918; son of the late Jan and Elizabeth Posack Machon; served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II
and was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star
. John was a truck driver in the area and was a member of the Teamsters Local 443. He was the brother of Mary DeSanto of North Haven, Anne Pringle of Okla., Helen (Al) Kaymer of Fla. and the late Michael Machon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Services were held Dec. 26, 2012 from the North Haven Funeral Home. Interment, with full military honors, followed in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Transfiguration Orthodox Church, 285 Alden Ave., New Haven, CT 06515.
