A thought a prayer for Bob today

Kevin J. Kelly

September 10, 2024

Obviously this is late (9/10/24)
Bob requested for me to get him back in shape. Working at Bristol Courthouse Bob saw I got into amazing shape.
I brought him to my gym for cardio. Then he had a knee problem. He then had Dr. Rich
Diana worked on his knee.
He told me that he would be able to continue our workouts in some months.
It never happened.
I miss a great friend.

Bob, I still think about the good times watching you play at Maloney and Boston College. You are one of the most inspiring persons I have ever met and who set a great standard. I feel that when Maloney won the state championship, you were with them as a 12th man.

You were a wonderful person to have known and will always be in my thoughts.

Bob, you are in my thoughts and prayers today.

February 23, 2022

Bob, you are are still in my thoughts and I have never forgotten what a wonderful person you were and an inspiration to me. You set a great standard for what a person should be on and off the field.

There has to be on heck of a great football team up there. Maloney won the state champion ship this year and I'm sure they were playing with more than 11 players on offense this year.

You will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever.

Jimmy, Bill and the entire Biestek Family,

Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you in this time of profound sorrow. To many of us, Robert will always personify Meriden Sports. From way back in the early 70's when we shagged foul balls and played pepper at Legion and Ceppa Field together while we watched his older brothers and my cousins playing ball, through his legendary exploits at Maloney and BC, Robert always approached life with an enthusiasm and joy that was contagious. We all looked up to him and their is great sadness in our former east side neighborhood and community in his passing. Though it has been many years since many of us have last seen him, the memories of youth last a lifetime. May his memories live on in all of you. Our deepest condolences.

Pat Kaczor and family.

My condolences to the entire Biestek family! Uncle Robert was more than just an Uncle to Aubree and I, he was more like a father to us.We love him more than any words could describe. Aunt Marianne, Aubree and I are the three most luckiest ladies alive to have had such a wonderful man in our lives. He has shown us strength, courage, respect, compassion, forgiveness, and love on a whole different level. The night he passed he told me that he was proud of me for buying my first car, registering it and insuring it all on my own. He also told me how proud he was of me that I was following my dreams. His smile could brighten anyone's day up no matter what was wrong with you. All the great memories my daughter and I have with him will be forever in our hearts. I will never forget every single night when him and Aubree watched "the beauty and the beast" and Uncle Robert telling Aubree that she was his beauty and he was the beast. The days when he would sit there and let her put her makeup all on his face, and the days where we would come home and she would run into the bedroom yelling " Bob!!! Let's play..mommy and Aunt Mar go buh byes so you can watch me!" The way he has taught her how to count her fingers and her toes, how he helped teach her where every part of her body was, how he read to her every night and sang all different theme songs for movies or just little old nursery ryhmes. He had a big part of my daughters life and I know Jason, Aubree, and I would never change that. He was good for her as she was for him. They were like to peas in a pod! Aunt Marianne and Uncle Robert were in my eyes "The perfect soulmates" They loved each other more than anything in this world. They started a new beginning to life and Aubree and I were lucky to have started it with them. There are so many memories I will never forget! I am very grateful for Uncle Robert and Aunt Marianne. I promise you Uncle Robert I will try my best to take care of Aubree, Aunt Marianne, Grandma Glo and the rest of your lovely family! I am still in shock, but I know that you wouldn't want me shedding all these tears that you would want me smiling and remembering about the bright future I have...and I know your probably yelling at me right now saying " Knish, study for that bailbonds license and take the test! I know you are perfectly capable!!" I know Uncle Robert and I won't let you down. I love you will all my heart, I will never forget you and I promise that Aubree will never forget what a great man you were :) I love you Uncle Robert... sending hugs to heaven..Hope your having a huge party up there with all your friends and family members who have already passed through the gates of heaven.
Love always and forever,
Knish and Aubree

Bill Spinelli

March 6, 2012

From the Spinelli family in Meriden, we send our deepest condolences on Robert's passing.

For myself, I well remember being trampled by him several times in the course of pickup games! But what I and my family remember most, is a certain humility about him. He was well-mannered and respectful, always. And never once do we recall any hint of boastfulness on his part, in regard to his brilliant athletic abilities.

We remember him as an admirable young man. We shall always remember him that way.

Jared Scroggins

March 6, 2012

To the Biestek family. I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Robert was one of those "one in a million guys." Everyone who was lucky enough to meet him had their lives changed. I know I was lucky enough to have my expeiences with him and they are always top on my list. From the pats v bills games, to the cape cod trips, to the unfinished farm work on Fantasia Farm. Robert was and always will be an uncle to me and my cousins. I wish we were able to have more time with him. Now Dad has another fan to cheer for the Bills with. Robert you will be missed.

Matthew Sosnowski

March 6, 2012

Biestek Family,
I would let express my condolences to the entire family on the passing of Robert. While I didn't him know directly, I DEFINITLEY knew of him. If you played sports at Maloney it was hard to not hear his name mentioned. He set the standard for all future Spartans. I hope that he finds peace in his next life.

Maria and George Walter

March 6, 2012

Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to meet him, but through these last few days, we realize what an amazing guy he was. We are welcoming his first-born, beautiful and amazing daughter, Ashley, into our family in September when she marries our son. She is a special, loving and caring young woman, obviously a reflection of two loving parents. We are saddened that we'll never get to know him, but his legacy will live on forever. R.I.P. Robert.

Bob was one of those people that stood out head and shoulders above his classmates. Dear Family of Bob Biestek:

Robert was a gifted athlete, handsome and charismatic beyond description. He captured the imagination and love of Cindi Gardner, and together they produced three beautiful daughters, Ashley, Amber & Brittany. This is his greatest legacy. These girls are capable of great love and compassion, more than most humans are capable of. They are gorgeous, a combination of the beautiful Robert & Cindi. I witnessed Robert's love of his girls. He was always rough housing with them. I used to wish he would not play so rough. They loved him so much that their hearts broke. Lord have mercy on us for we are all imperfect, but united with you in resurrection we are prefected. My love and deepest sympaties are extended to the family. I love you. God bless you all. Deb

March 4, 2012

My sincerest condolences to my Aunt Gloria, cousins, his children and Marianne. As you celebrate his life, please know Bobby (as I always referred to him as) was such an incredible athlete, that I always made sure that all my friends and acquaintances knew we were related. I will always remember how I got hooked on college football, first and foremost, when our family visited theirs, it always seemed that college football was screaming from the television, with all their family trying to predict the next play. Then when he went to Boston College, it was even more of a reason to get hooked. I always wondered what their Mom fed them brawny, beefy boys that was missing from our meals. I feel truly Blessed and honored to have been his cousin, and all though he will be sorely missed, in my heart and many others, Bobby will be fondly remembered.
May You Rest In Peace Bobby !

My condolences go out to you and to his extended family. He touched so many lives in such a positive way. I had not seen Bob since we graduated high school. However when his name came up in conversation it always brought back fond memories and put a smile on my face. Starting from our youth at St. Stan's, to our little league days, to basketball memories at St. Stan's, to just being his friend through high school, Bob was always such a true friend. To hear of his passing is sad news. At the same moment I feel joy in just thinking of what a positive influence he was in my life and obviously in the lives of so many others. Bob truly was a blessing to everyone he touched and my prayers go out to all of you.

Where do I begin? Just one hour after I heard the tragic news I stopped in to a new restaurant and on the menu was a "BEAST" sandwich. From the early days at your house on Christmas eve, pitching against you in LL, and watching you play in the Boy's Club's National BB event in Kentucky I have memories to last a lifetime. O, and the parties....I only wish I could have seen you one more time! To the best athlete ever to come out of Meriden in our lifetime! I love you cousin Robert!

Bob, Friday night lights at Ceppa Field, some of the best memories a football player can have. Glad we shared them together. Rest easy, your friend and team mate.

Please accept my deepest condolences to all of Bob's family and friends. I had the pleasure of watching Bob play at BC and can say without reservation that he was unsurpassed in the consistent effort he made for those great teams. He set a standard of excellence that certainly elevated the play of everyone around him. In thirty years of watching BC football, I never saw any player who gave more, game in and game out, than Bob.

With my deepest sympathy,

Biestek Family,
I am so sorry to hear this terrible news. Playing with Bob for 4 years at Maloney in the 70's was a unforgetable experience. It was a true honor to be on the baseball diamond and basketball court with him. I am a better man today for knowing him.
God Bless you.

I will always remember Bob's leadership and the tenacity in the way Bob played football. I will always think of Bob on tht incredibly cold and rainy November, 25th 1983 game we had vs. Alabama at Sullivan Stadium when he just kicked their butt 20-13 and brought home the W for the Eagles. God Bless you Bob. ~Smitty

To The Biestek Family,

For many of us Robert Biestek was BC Football. He was the one of the toughest players in the country and gave the Eagles the reputation of a hard hitting, no quit group. Robert personified the term teamate. The expression "I've got your back" personifies the way he lead his life. WE will always treasure his passion for life and friendship. May God Bless his soul...
