NORTH HAVEN - Blaze "Peter" Calabrese, 82, of Clintonville Road, North Haven, formerly of Randall Drive, North Haven, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014, at the Montowese Health and Rehab Center, North Haven. He was the husband of Celeste Parente Calabrese.

Pete was born in New Haven on July 5, 1931, son of the late Catello and Maria DeLieto Calabrese; served his country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War at which time he attended Naval Aviation School. Pete had worked as a meat cutter for many years retiring from Shop-Rite in addition to the former First National Store and Montowese Meat Center for many many years. He was a former member of the Barbershop Quartet in New Haven.
He was the father of Peter B. (Martha) Calabrese, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Michael D. Calabrese, of Clinton; grandfather of Alyssa Calabrese; brother of Angelina Rosabianco, of Hamden, Anna Sagnella, of North Haven, Andy Calabrese, of East Haven and the late Joseph Calabrese, Mary DeMatteo, Diane Costanzo, Connie Steele and Assunta "Sue" Esposito. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue, Friday, June 13. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Frances Cabrini Church. Interment was followed in All Saints Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the National MS Society CT Chapter, 659 Tower Ave., First Floor, Hartford, CT 06112.
