Raymond L. Gelati, 84, of North Haven, passed away Dec. 20, 2012 at the Mary Wade Home, New Haven. He was the husband of Suzanne Story Gelati. Raymond was born in North Haven on Nov. 25, 1928; son of the late Anthony and Sorisa Cavagnero Gelati; had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was the co-owner and operator of the former Gelati Brothers Service of North Haven for over 40 years until his retirement, member of the American Legion Murray/Reynolds Post 76, member of Knights of Columbus 4th degree John Barry Assembly and the Temple Sweethearts. He was the father of Maud Story Gelati and her husband Charles M. Gravino of North Haven; brother of Nora Johnson of Wallingford and the late Lawrence Gelati, Lillian Dubar and Louis Gelati; brother-in-law of Josepha Gibson of North Haven. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the staff of the Mary Wade Home and the Franciscan Hospice for the excellent comfort and care they provided to Raymond.

A graveside funeral service with full military honors was held Dec. 26, 2012 at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Wade Home, Clinton Ave., New Haven, CT 06513. The North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue has been entrusted with the arrangements.
