WALLINGFORD - Genevieve Hurley Melillo, 95, of Wallingford, formerly of Branford and Guilford, died Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Masonicare Health Center. She was the beloved wife of 77 years of the late John A. Melillo.

She was born in Danbury, April 27, 1917, a daughter of the late John Hurley and Clara Mae Maxfield and had lived in Wallingford for the past 28 years. She was a member of Christ Church in Stony Creek.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis Taylor (Richard,) of New Haven, Janet Sittnick (Raymond,) of Wallingford, Judy Abood, of Wallingford, Ralph Melillo (Rita,) of Texas, Lee Melillo, of Texas, Tom Melillo, of Branford, and Philip Melillo (Anne,) of Madison; her 41 grandchildren; 77 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, John Hurley (Barbara,) of Hamden, and Frank Hurley (Joan,) of East Haven; and her sisters, Anne Skowronek (Peter,) of Florida and Ellen Robbins, of New York. She was predeceased by her sons, John, Michael and David Melillo; and her brothers, Joseph and James Hurley, and Edward and Warren Jordan.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday, June 19, from 5 until 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
