SOUTHINGTON - Henry "Harry" Joseph Kyle Jr., 72, of the Plantsville section of Southington died peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, June 18, 2012, at the Southington Care Center. He had been the loving husband of Sara Jane (Glennon) Kyle for nearly 37 years.
Born in Waterbury on April 2, 1940 to the late Henry J. Kyle Sr., and Rose (Toal) Kyle, he had been a longtime Plantsville resident. Harry was a UCONN graduate. He served his country as a lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during the Dominican Republic Crisis. He was communicant and a lecter at St. Thomas Church and a participant in the Passion Play for 13 years. Harry was an avid Yankee fan, a cigar connoisseur and enjoyed traveling. He was a true people person who loved meeting new people through his job as a journalist in town.
In addition to his wife Sara, he is survived by his son, Andrew C. Kyle and his wife, Marybeth, of Wallingford; his daughter, Kathryn (Kyle) Mable and her husband, David, of Vernon; three grandchildren, Payton, Morgan, and Kayden-Henry; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Marie Cochrane and Charlotte Gravel.
Harry's family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to the entire staff at Southington Care Center for their wonderful support and care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's memory may be made to the Franciscan Health Care Center, 267 Finch Ave. Meriden, CT 06451.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. from the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St., Plantsville on Friday, June 22, with a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial with full military honors will follow in South End Cemetery, Southington. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, at the Plantsville Funeral Home.
