Tony Pavano Obituary

Tony Pavano, of Plainville, 91, died Sept. 21, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Matteo and Concetta (Amenta) Pavano. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery. He was the general manager for Dworin Chevrolet in East Hartford for many years. He also did the radio commercials for Dworin Chevrolet impersonating Jimmy Durante, and therefore was known as "The Voice." In his retirement he loved gardening (he was known as the tomato man), boating, fishing, traveling and performing with his brother, Frank.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne (Monahan) Pavano; one stepdaughter, Susan Ronzello and husband, Robert, of Southington; three step-sons, Jerry Holmes and wife, Linda, from San Diego, Dana Holmes and wife, Doreen, from Gardiner, Maine, David Holmes, from Bristol; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; his brother, John Pavano, of Cheshire; several nieces and nephews; and two very special friends, Judy Dworin and Blu. Special thanks to the staff of Bristol Hospital Home Care and Hospice for their special care of Tony.

A memorial service was held Sept. 28, 2011, at Bailey Funeral Home, Plainville. Final resting place was at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Memorial donations may be made to Bristol Hospital Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 977, Bristol, CT 06010.
