Watkins, Kenneth
Kenneth J. Watkins, age 70, of Menasha, died Friday evening, January 17, 2014, at Appleton Medical Center. Born on November 9, 1943, in Milwaukee to Earl and Laura (Beier) Watkins, Sr., Ken married Judy Voight on January 2, 1965, in Oshkosh.
A graduate of Oshkosh High School Class of 1963, Ken was employed by Meiers Rudolf Mercury/Lincoln Dealership in Appleton. He was the sexton at St. John the Baptist Church & School in Menasha before becoming the sexton at Trinity Lutheran Church & School in Menasha, where he served as an Usher. Ken also owned and operated the Busy Bee Car Wash in Appleton. He was a member of Central Wisconsin Auto Club and loved to attend old auto shows/swap meets. Some favorite activities were attending Road America Races, outdoor cooking, and helping neighbors with projects. His good sense of humor was always evident with his dealings with people. As a gifted mechanic, Ken could care for cars from body work to power plant systems and everything in between. He especially enjoyed time with family, his dog, Sophie, and riding his John Deere lawn tractor.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Judy Watkins; a son, Richard Watkins; a daughter, Karry (Joseph) Moehn; a granddaughter, Johanna Moehn; two brothers, Earl (Betty) Watkins, Jr. and Ralph (Rose) Watkins; and a nephew, Michael Watkins. Preceding Ken in death are his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad Street, Menasha, with Reverend Steven Billings officiating. Interment will follow the service at Ellenwood Cemetery in Oshkosh. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 12 Noon until service time at the church.
