Doberstein, Lee
On Saturday October 19 2013, kind and gentle angels surrounded us as they came to take one of their own home. Lee Joseph Doberstein 88, with his family by his side, left this life to join his heavenly Father. He was born on October 5, 1925, to Edward and Martha Doberstein in DePere, Wisconsin.
Lee honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning home he married Ruby Lasee and together they created a family of ten children. This past February they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
Lee was a family man that enjoyed reading, watching sports and cooking. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called him Papa. He was a proud Packer fan and talked about surviving the "Ice Bowl" of 1967 and attending Super Bowl II.
He is survived by his wife Ruby, and his children, Sandy (Bob) Bessette, Mary (Mike) Strycker, Nancy (Bob) Schoenberger, Edward "Ted" (Karene Powers) Doberstein, Jim (Kathy) Doberstein and Tim (Cheryl) Doberstein, all of Oshkosh, Bob (Joean Lankford) Doberstein of Centennial, WY, Jeanie Jones, Joanie (Mike) Rohrs and Dave Sacho, all of California, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lee was preceded in death by his daughter Patty Sacho, his parents, his brother Ralph and his son-in-law Pat Jones.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday October 25, 2013, at Most Blessed Sacrament- St. Peter site, 449 High Ave. Oshkosh, WI. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Affinity Home Care Plus team for their kind and respectful care of Lee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Parish or Affinity Home Care Plus.

To the entire Doberstein family. You all were such a big part of my life growing up on Oxford. That happens when you cut through someone's yard every single day and use it for kick the can on summer nights. Oddly, the thing I most remember about your dad was his bellowing "AL-CIN-DORRRRR" out the front door after a big Bucks win numerous times during the glory year of 1971. I believe he also started a couple of the silly nicknames for me when I was little, Davy Crockett(obvious for the times) and Gravy Train. I also remember him and Mr. Matsche sitting in the lawn chairs in the driveways with a couple Kingsbury or Point longnecks epitomizing what neighbors should be. I'm very sorry for your loss and my prayers are with all of you during this time.

So many wonderful memories. I always remember the times he would throw things at the TV when the Packers made a bad play. Thanks for coming to AZ to visit..

Tim and Ted , I am sorry to hear about your dad. I did not know him but from what I heard from the both of you he was a good guy. Remember all the fun times you had and it will help in your grief. We are out of town but will get in touch with you when we get back.

Lee was always a friend and gave a listening ear to all the Oxford kids. I always felt safe when his police car was parked in front of their house. He will truly be missed. We all love you Lee. Let the memories give you get comfort in this difficult time.
