Lund, Betty L.
Betty Lou Lund, 85 of Oakfield, entered Eternal Life on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Fond du Lac Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 245 Second Street, Oakfield, WI, with Rev. Christopher Goelzer officiating. She will be laid to rest in Avoca Cemetery in Oakfield.

Betty was born on July 16, 1927 in Oakfield to John and Kathryn (Traxler) Philipsky, the youngest of ten children. Betty graduated from Oakfield High School in 1945. Betty was employed at the Infant Socks Company in Fond du Lac, and has many fond memories of lunch breaks at Gillie's Custard Drive-in.
On September 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to George L. Lund in Oakfield. Betty went to work in the lunch programs and as a custodian with the Oakfield School District for several years. She was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakfield where she attended many Bible classes and was very active in the Ladies Aide.
Betty was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 8092, holding many offices until it disbanded in June of 2012. She enjoyed crafts, and her children have many of her plastic canvas and ceramic projects. Betty especially loved reading books from the Oakfield Public Library. Her favorite place to be was outdoors, and she enjoyed working in her garden and tending to the needs of grateful birds.
Betty is survived by her son, Charles (Jean) Lund, Oakfield, her daughter, Brenda Lund, Oshkosh, and her sister, Marge Bergman of Thorp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and siblings: Albert, Kathryn, Theresa, John, Thomas (who died at Pearl Harbor), Anne, Frank, and Carl.

Betty was one of my favorite customers when I worked at Bank of Oakfield. I enjoyed helping her out and chit chatting with her about many different topics. Even after I left the bank to be a full-time stay at home mom, I still would see Betty around the village. She told me how much she missed seeing me at the bank. I am deeply saddened that the village has lost such a wonderfully kind woman who was always smiling! You are greatly missed Betty!

I remember some fun visits with Betty when my Mom would take us to her house. I've been told that Betty even baby-sat for my siblings and me when we were little tykes and living in Oakfield. I would still see Betty once in a while during my visits to the Fond du Lac area, and I'll always have fond memories of her. I knew her for a long time! I'm praying for comfort for Betty's family and dear friends.

Thoughts of sympathy are gently offered to all those mourning Mrs. Lund's loss. Losing a loved one is indeed a heartbreaking experience. Sometimes sorrow and grief can seem to almost consume us. God well knows our sufferings, in fact, His Word kindly reminds us that He is eager to show "mercy towards those whose eyes are consumed with grief." May Faith in his loving concern comfort you, as you endure the sorrow of Mrs. Lund's dear passing.

Brenda and Family,
We are so sorry for the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful person. I enjoyed every visit I had with her when my Grandma and her would visit.
I know they were life long friends. It's funny how life is and how they both passed away just a few months apart. Although I'm sure they are enjoying being together again.
