Koteski, Robert "Pete:
Robert "Pete" Koteski, age 88, of Berlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at his home, the Patriot Place of Berlin.
He was born on December 9, 1925 in Neenah, Wisconsin, the son of Peter John and Marie (Vissers) Koteski.
He married Doris (Dottie) Lorraine Domask on May 29, 1948 at the Saint Joseph's Catholic Church of Berlin and she preceded him in death on April 27, 2000.
He is a member of the All Saints Catholic Parish of Berlin formerly (Saint Stanislaus) and a member of the Holy Name Society of the Parish.
Pete served the youth of Saint Stanislaus as basketball coach from 1970 and for many years after. He was a proud member of the Wells-Krause V.F.W. Post 2925 of Berlin and was also the founder of the V.F.W. Honor Guard Squad of Berlin and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps., during WWII, and was a survivor of Iwo Jima.
Pete retired from AT&T (Wisconsin Bell) in 1985 after 39 years of service as a lineman, combination man and installer/repairman.
He always loved competing in sports and he golfed, bowled, and pitched fast pitch softball well into his forties, and also played competitive tennis.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially enjoyed these activities at his cabin in Crivitz.
One of his greatest joys was supporting his grandchildren compete in sports and teaching them the joys of the great outdoors.
He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with his wife and seemed to maintain a perpetual suntan. They also traveled together to several Marine Corps reunions throughout the U.S.A. during retirement. He was thrilled to travel to Washington D.C. as part of an honor guard flight for WWII Vets in October of 2010.
He is remembered by many as a hero, due to his military service but to us he is a hero because he is our dad, grandpa and great grandpa.
Every day of our lives he supported us, provided for us and always did his very best.
The family would like to pass along a special thanks to the staff at the Patriot Place of Berlin for all of their support and care they provided for our dad and us.

Dear Dad,
Five Years since you slipped quietly from this life....the wish for one more day would never be enough.
The missing you, needing you, loving you is without end. Your grandchildren and great grandchildren are all making you proud. So wish you could have met Corinne, however, I have a feeling you may have, even before we did. :)
One of the sweetest memories I have is watching you watching Hailey sleep...yes, you would drive over and sit and watch her sleeping in her bassinet. We all miss your laugh, your look of surprise, and your geez o cats! Most of all I miss YOU.
All my love, Denise

There are many wonderful memories of trips up to the cabin in Crivitz and overnights at the Koteski house. Pete was a wonderful father to Denise and Tom and anyone else who showed up at the house. He led an incredible life and influenced many people. What a blessing to have known him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
