Byrdie Hilkka Jensen, 74 of Redgranite, passed away Sunday morning, October 6, 2013, at Juliette Manor Nursing Home in Berlin.
Byrdie was born January 27, 1939, in Redgranite, a daughter of Vaino Edward and Byrdie Valentine (Moon) Juslen. She was raised in Redgranite, and was a 1957 graduate of the Berlin High School.
Byrdie married Gary Richard Jensen on December 1, 1960 in Berlin. He preceded her in death July 15, 2012 following 51 years of marriage.
As an Air Force spouse, she traveled to many different places with her husband, and later also with their children.
Byrdie was a member of Granite Chapter #209, Order of Eastern Star of Redgranite. She practiced her faith in her daily life in all the places she resided. Byrdie was an avid reader, and had many collections from buttons, to bottles, to stamps, and records.
Preceding Byrdie in death were her husband, Gary Jensen; son, Barry Jensen; her parents, Vaino and Byrdie Juslen; and her brothers, Jalmer, Edward, Walter, Amar, and Vaino Juslen; her sisters, Helen Jantz, Ellen Rogers, Aina Wilcox, Julia Berray, and Saima Schrock.
Survivors include a son, Gary Jensen of Redgranite; a daughter, Byrdie (Ken) Schulz of Plymouth; and 3 grandchildren, Taya Schulz of Ashland, Ohio; Dustin Schulz of Niagara Falls, New York; and Sierra Schulz of Plymouth. Byrdie is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE for Byrdie H. Jensen will be held Saturday, October 12, at 11:00 A.M. at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite. The Rev. Dorothy Heckner Mendonca will officiate. There will be a time of Visitation at the Ruminski Funeral Home on Saturday morning, one hour prior to the Service, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
Byrdie's final request was that those attending the Service not wear black or other somber colors. Please wear bright, living colors as this is a Celebration of her life.
Should relatives and friends desire, Memorials will be appreciated for Angel Hugs of Plymouth, WI, an organization for children with cancer, in Brydie's memory.
