Edwin Carl Krause, known as Eddie by friends and family alike, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at the ripe old age of 85, on the farm north of Ripon that he so dearly loved. Eddie was born in Ripon on August 21, 1927, the youngest son of Charlie and Dora (Woehlke) Krause. He signed up for the Army when he was 18: And served and was stationed in the Philippians as a weather advisor and also as an MP. Eddie loved farming, lived on the family farm since the age of seven and enjoyed farm life for all that it offered. Eddie shared his happy go lucky personality with loved ones, through hunting, fishing, playing dart ball and driving his tractor. The multitude of wonderful memories his family share will keep his spirit alive and they will always remember his "by golly" personality and his "I suppose" way of interacting with all of them.
Eddie is loved and will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Betty Irene (Lungwitz) Krause. Together they had seven children, all of whom picked up their parents creative and loving spirit; Allen Krause, Peggy (Glen) Stobb, Terry Krause, Mike Krause, Russell Krause, Barbara (Krause) Petite, Jerry Krause; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Roy; brother-in-law, David Lungwitz; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Harold; sister Elly; mother and father-in-law, Martha and Erv; and sisters-in-law, Peg, Irmgard, and Ruth.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Loper Cemetery, next to the family homestead, with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Full military honors will follow the graveside service.
