Elizabeth "Betty" Rothbauer, 79, of Oshkosh, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 22, 2014.
Betty was born to Ernest and Marie (Mauch) Fassbender in a farm house near Slinger, WI on April 18, 1934. She has one brother Ernest "Fuzzy" (Judy) Fassbender, Jr.
Betty attended St. Kilian Catholic Grade School (class of '48), Hartford High School (class of '52), and St. Agnes School of Nursing (class of '55). After graduation she worked as a Registered Nurse at the Winnebago State Hospital.
Betty had three passions in her life - her Lord, her husband and her children.
She married the love of her life, Josef F. Rothbauer, on December 29, 1956 at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford, WI. Together they had five children: Joe (Becky) Rothbauer; David (Sarah) Rothbauer; Mary Kay (Mike) Van Laarhoven; Sharon (Jeffrey) Boyce; and Amy Rothbauer. There are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was her husband's constant companion during the years they built their businesses and their children's biggest encourager.
Betty and her husband owned and operated Oshkosh Construction, Inc., Main Equipment Rental, and Celebration Party Rental. They also operated an active real estate business that included commercial and residential properties. Betty still found time for sewing classes, her avid reading, and the many charities she supported.
She accompanied her husband to Bible studies at the Oshkosh Correctional Institute for more than 23 years where she touched the hearts of inmates with the word of God. She also volunteered at Taycheedah Correctional Institute where she ministered to female inmates with kindness and respect. Those whose lives she touched were impressed with her integrity, faith in the Lord, and grace.
According to her wishes there will be no funeral service. A private graveside gathering will be held for immediate family at the time of burial. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with International Children's Fund, P.O. Box 583, Neenah, WI 54957-0583. Condolences may be sent to the family at 1090 Ran-Lie St., Oshkosh, WI 54904.
The family extends their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Evergreen Creekview, Dr. Eric DuWell, Karie Chapman N.P., and Becky and Kim of Generations Hospice for their exceptional, compassionate, and dignified care.
