Richard J. Schroeder, age 73, passed away at Mercy Medical Center with his family by his side on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Dick was born in Oshkosh on November 27, 1939 the son of the late Edward and Marie (Duescher) Schroeder. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. Dick was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy participating in historical events such as the Berlin Wall and the Cuban Missile Crisis. After the Navy he worked as a machinist for Rockwell in Oshkosh for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Dick loved to spontaneously travel and visit family and friends. He will be remembered for the kindness and gentleness he exhibited toward everyone, and love of chocolate.

Dick is survived by his brothers: David (Dorothy) Schroeder, Robert (Colleen) Schroeder, John (Bonnie) Schroeder, all of Oshkosh; sisters: Arline (Ralph) Hoeft of Oshkosh, Shirley (Gordy) Roeder of Waupun, Joyce (Willie) Krepline of Hilbert, Grace (Carl) Strum of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law: Oscar Leichtfuss and Kenneth Stadler, both of Oshkosh; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marie Schroeder; brother, Clarence; and sisters: Betty Leichtfuss, Delores Reckelberg, Catherine Schaefer, Alvina Stadler; and infant brother, Jerry Schroeder.

The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at GRACE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 913 Nebraska St., Oshkosh, with Rev. Chadwick Graham officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Oshkosh. Online condolences may be expressed at
