Abraham, Robert "Bob' "Jake'
Robert "Bob" "Jake" Abraham, 92, of Van Dyne passed away Saturday March 23, 2013, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born February 15, 1921, in the town of Friendship the son of John and Fona Rosenthal Abraham. He farmed in the town for many years. On February 23, 1952, he married Marilyn Wirtz. They enjoyed and had 58 wonderful years together.
Besides farming, Bob took over the Duck guiding business from his father on Long Point Island in Lake Winnebago. He made many friends and enjoyed and meeting some famous people and sports figures. He always had a good story to tell about his hunting and fishing experiences, after he was too old to guide he enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching the activities on Lake Winnebago.
He is survived by his sister in law, Jo Ann Siebert of Neenah, many nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Marilyn in September 2010. His parents, his sisters and brothers- in-law, Erna and Rufus Barthals, Helen (Tootie) and Erv Zentner, Dorothy and Lester Baker; brother and sister- in-law, Melvin and Jean Abraham; his niece, Nancy and nephew, Ken Barthals; and brother-in-law, Arnold Siebert.
Funeral services for Jake will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the First English Lutheran Church, the Rev Martin Ruge officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Church Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial has been established to the Van Dyne Lions Club and First English Lutheran Church.
We know that you are at peace now and united with your loved ones that have gone before you, but your family and friends are going to miss hearing some of your favorite sayings, "Never in my WHOLE life" and "I just don't get it". Love from those who who will miss you dearly.
