Hintz, Shirley M.
Shirley M. Hintz, age 83, of Omro, passed away February 20th, 2014 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. Shirley was born July 12th, 1930, in Bancroft WI, the daughter of Allen and Edith (Pratt) Hotchkiss. Shirley married Lewis M. Hintz on May 27th, 1950. In her earlier years, Shirley worked at Green Giant, Omro Care Center and Hardees. Shirley really enjoyed interacting with her many friends and relatives when they came to visit her at Hardees. Shirley also enjoyed her weekly T.O.P.S. meetings, embroidery, bowling, and outings with friends, but her main passion was spending time with her family. Shirley was the glue that helped bond everyone together. Whether it was her strong will, warm heart, or caring hands, Shirley would do whatever it took to show her love to her children and that they were a very significant part of her life. Shirley also loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with a fire that could not be extinguished. She never missed going to the Winnebago County Fair to watch them show their livestock or going to their sporting events to show her never ending support. Shirley also had many close friends that she held very dear to her heart. Shirley is survived by her husband Lewis Hintz of Omro; 5 loving and caring children, Linda (John) Albright of Berlin , Nancy (Tom) Jackson of Omro, Debby (Steve) Loker of Omro, Mark (Kathy) Hintz of Loganville, Paula (Terry) Treu of Berlin; 9 grandchildren, Kim (Todd) Reinert of Omro, Chris (Gary) Kinderman of Oshkosh, Lori Jackson of Omro, Greg (Beth) Jackson of Omro, Jody (John) Buttke of Omro, Brian (Michelle) Loker of Omro, Jason (Heather) Loker of Omro, Emily Treu of Berlin and Josef Treu of Berlin; and 9 great-grandchildren, Abigayle and Andrew Reinert, Luke and Levi Jackson, Carson and Alyson Buttke, Bryce Loker, and Jacob McHugh and Emma Loker; 1 sister and 2 brothers, Patsy Cummings of Bancroft, Dick (Donna) Hotchkiss of Plainfield, and Roger (Andrea) Hotchkiss of DeForest. Shirley is preceded in death by her children Jeffrey and Shelly Hintz, parents, Allen and Edith Hotchkiss, sister, Marrietta Scherzer, brother-in-law, Frank Cummings, father and mother-in-law, Herbert and Maude Hintz, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Merrill and Milene Hintz. Although she is physically gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she has met on her journey of life.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and then again on Monday, February 24, 2014, at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in the Burdick Cemetery. A memorial in Shirley's name has been established.
