Steven M. Hedberg

Steven M. Hedberg, 58, Neenah, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Steve was born August 9, 1954, son of the late Clinton and Margaret Joyce Hedberg and was married to Betsy Lemery on December 2nd, 1999. He was diagnosed in 2009 with ALS, but never let the disease deter him from doing the things he loved with his friends and family. Steve was a true outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, biking, camping with his family, boating and going to the beach. He enjoyed shooting archery and trout fishing with his buddies in the U.P. on the Tahquamenon River. Steve had a talent for being a taxidermist and was a member of the Winnebago Archers and the YMCA. After 35 years as a technical illustrator, he retired from Oshkosh Corporation in December of 2012. Steve truly loved spending time with his family and his friends, and enjoyed watching sports, especially the Detroit Tigers, Michigan College basketball, and the Green Bay Packers.

Steve is survived by his wife, Betsy; daughters: Sarah and Emily; siblings: Vickie (Mike) Gould, Gary (Virginia) Hedberg and Sandy Hedberg; Betsy's siblings: Tom Lemery and significant other Sherri Rudkin, David Lemery and Carrie Lemery; many nieces and nephews as well as other special family members and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his father- and mother-in-law, Alan and Dorothy Lemery.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty St., Neenah, with Rev. Mark Geisthardt officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association in Steve's name.

Steve's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the medical staff at the Theda Clark ICU, and Chaplains Mark and John, for all of their wonderful care and compassion.
