Darwin F. Kumbier, age 72, of Omro, died peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday evening, October 16, 2013. Darwin was born August 24, 1941, in Oshkosh, the son of Myron and Irene (Dehn) Kumbier. Darwin married Arlys O'Neill in 1961. This union was blessed with four children. Darwin enjoyed hunting, playing softball, cards, bowling, farming and his horse, Whiskey. Above all else, he had a special place in his heart for and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Darwin is loved and will be missed by his wife, Arlys; children, Laurie (David) Gitlin of Pickett, Connie (Warren) Meuler of Oshkosh and Darren "Chaz" Kumbier of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Justin (Danielle) Schmick, Ryan and McKinzi Davies, Brandon and Cody Meuler, Samantha, Alex and Abby Kumbier; great grandchild, Harper Schmick; brothers, Robert (Darlene) Kumbier, David (Kathy) Kumbier, and Donald "Gup" (Beverly) Kumbier; brothers and sisters in law, Claire (Mary Ellen) O'Neill, Shirley (Wes) Radloff, and Ron (Joanne) O'Neill; lifelong friend, John Allen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy; and brother, Dennis.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, from 9:30 a.m. until 12: 15 p.m. The funeral service will follow at church at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Bartholomew officiating. Burial will follow in the Waukau Cemetery. A memorial in his name is being established. The family would like to thank Dr. Gremminger and staff and the Affinity Hospice Team for their kindness and care.
