Johnson, Doris Marie
Doris Marie Johnson, age 82, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born on August 30, 1930, in Oshkosh, to the late Louis Gorwitz and Sophie Marie Stamborski. She married William Johnson on August 29, 1953, in Oshkosh. She had worked for the Telephone Company as an Operator; also as an Avon Representative and as a Cosmetic Consultant at the former H.C. Prange Co. She spent the last 20 years caring for family members as a care giver as needed. She greatly enjoyed ceramics, arts and crafts, bird watching, feeding. Doris was a life time member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, William of 59 years; a son, Jeffrey Paul (Patt) Johnson of West St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Cynthia Ann Johnson of Oshkosh; and Patrice Marie (Gary) Schettle of Green Bay, WI. She is further survived by her beloved aunt, June Stamborski and her daughter, Paula (Ed) Steinert; other relatives and many very dear friends and her companion pets, Keera and Mischa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Doris on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Josaphat Catholic Church located at the corner of Congress and Walnut Avenues in Oshkosh. The Rev. Fr. Robert Steggman will celebrate the Mass. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the efforts and care that was extended by St. Elizabeth Hospital and Mercy Medical Center, especially ICU unit staff and the many friends and family for their support over the past several months.
