Fischer, Deacon Frederick C.

Deacon Frederick C. Fischer, 76, passed on to join his loving God on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at the Mercy Medical Center. Assigned to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, by the grace of God, his family thanks all of the good people that prayed for the success of his work at Sacred Heart and the local nursing homes. Dcn. Fred was born in Chicago on November 6, 1936, a son of the late Rita (Cromp) Fischer and Arthur J. Fischer. Fred served his country in the U.S. Army. He attended and had a bachelor degree from Loyola University, Chicago with a major in accounting and minors in education and philosophy. Fred was blessed to marry Madeleine B. "Midge" Wrzesinski on August 22, 1964, at St. Viator's Church in Chicago. Fred is the father of eight children as follow, Theodore J. of Kaukauna, WI; Rita (Michael) Radtke of Neenah, WI; Julia B. Decker (very special friend, Steven Hanley) of Phoenix, AZ; Arthur J. (Beth) of Albuquerque, NM; Rebecca A. (Clark) Strok of Menasha, WI; Frederick J. "Fritz" of Oshkosh; Madeleine B. "Maggie" Fischer of Phoenix, AZ; and Francis J. (Keri) of Augusta, GA. Fred has ten grandchildren, Jason A. Leicht, Madeleine J. Decker, Brandon A. Decker, Matthew M. Radtke, Kevin C. Radtke, Connor M. Radtke, Calvin Strok, Adam C. Strok, Jennifer Fischer and newborn on Nov. 27, 2012, Lillian Kathleen Fischer. Fred was preceded in death by three of his sisters and two of his brothers, Rita Covganka (Anthony deceased), Lillian Pecenka (Robert), Florence M. Tantilla (Joseph), Eugene G. (Carmella, nee Persico), Arthur J. (Joyce, nee Lectara) and Frances Fabis. His other sisters are Teri Fischer of Ottawa, Ili. and Elizabeth Pohlman of Sandwich, Ill.

Fred was a Past Grand Knight and Past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus having been a active member of the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years. Fred was also a St. Francis Third Order member and a Legion of Mary member for many years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Deacon Fred Fischer on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, corner of 6th and Knapp in Oshkosh. The Rev. Fr. Matt Simonar and Rev. Fr. William Van DeKreeke will celebrate the Mass. A time of visitation and support will be held for the Fischer family at the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. on Sunday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at which time a Rosary and Prayer Service will be held. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church prior to the Mass from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. Dcn. Fred will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Oshkosh. In lieu of floral arrangements it is asked that memorials be made in Fred's name to St. Jude Parish in Oshkosh or to the Knights of Columbus. Fred touched the lives of many people with his ministry over the years, especially those who could not attend church or were confined to nursing homes. He was dearly loved by all and will be sadly missed by all with whom had contact with him or knew him. Fred's funeral arrangements were entrusted to the:
