Harlan "Hirsch" Hirschy Jr., 72, of Oshkosh died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, February 7, 2013 . He was born May 15, 1940 in North Carolina the son of Harlan and Berdine Hirschy. Hirsch married Shirley Robertson on August 22, 1992 in Oshkosh .
Hirsch was a 1958 graduate of Neenah High School where he was a valued member of the Neenah High School Rocket's football team. He was employed at Oshkosh Floor Designs Acquisition, LLC in Winneconne.
He loved camping with his family, gardening with his wife, and acting as the family photographer creating memories albums for all his children and grandchildren. For many years he served as a member of the Winnebago County Fair Association and was a long-time supporter of the Winnebago County 4-H organization. Hirsch loved to see children smile.
Hirsch is much loved and will be missed by is wife, Shirley of Oshkosh; son and stepsons Harlan (Elizabeth) Hirschy III of Kaukauna, David Micolichek of Oshkosh, Thomas Micolichek of Oshkosh, Doug Slater of Oshkosh; daughters Darcie (Chris) Fiedler of Kaukauna, Kimberly (Dale) Stevens of Wausau, Heidi Hirschy of Neenah; grandchildren Brittany, Christopher, Robert, Austin, Sevanna, Allison, Ryan, Emma, Colmann, Alli, and Nathan; great-grandson Gavin; sisters Wyn Overholdt of South Carolina, Becki Jo Hirschy of Waukesha, Jennifer (Gary) Gentry of North Carolina, mother Berdine Hirschy of North Carolina, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan Hirschy Sr. and his brother, David Hirschy.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Fiss and Bills Poklasny Funeral Home, the Rev. Rick Ribble officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home Tuesday from 4-7pm.
In lieu of flowers a Memorial has been established to the Winnebago County 4-H organization
