John P. Mc Graw, age 78, of Berlin, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on Friday afternoon August 23, 2013, at the Juliette Manor Nursing Home of Berlin where he was undergoing rehabilitation from surgery.
He was born on January 3, 1935, in Albany, New York, the son of Patrick John and Ruth (Jennings) Mc Graw.
He married Ardis G. (Jones) on October 11, 1964 and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2011.
John and Ardis moved to Berlin from Prineville,Oregon in September of 2010.
John dedicated his life to the service of the United States Air Force of which his career spanned 23 years.
While living in Oregon he was a volunteer at the Prineville Senior Center helping on many projects including delivery of the meals on wheels.
Everyone knew John as Santa Claus and his wife as Mrs. Claus, as they would always volunteer their time to all the children at Christmas time of which they so loved.
He loved to collect Eagles and had quite an extensive collection he also dearly loved his family and spending his time with them.
John had spent a lot of time investigating his roots and the family genealogy.
He attended the All Saints Catholic Church of Berlin.
Survivors include his children, Linda Thompson of Inwood, West Virginia; Nancy (Ken) Moldenhauer of Berlin; Larry (Connie) Wilson of Tucson, Arizon, Sean Mc Graw of Atascadero, Ca.; Anthony Jerome Mc Graw of Lucedale, Mississippi; and Ava Jean Mc Farland of Grand Bay, Alabama; also nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services with the Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church of Berlin with the Rev. Jerome Maksvytis officiating and burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery of Berlin with full Military Honors performed by the Berlin V.F.W. Honors Team
Relatives and friends may pay their respects to John and visit with the family on Thursday August 29, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:30a.m., at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin, just prior to leaving for the services at the church.
