Rev. Lynn E. Scovil, 87, of Oshkosh went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Bethel Home. He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio November 22, 1926. On March 19, 1947, he was united in marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Jean Cook in Ashtabula.

He was called into ministry in 1948 and attended the Milwaukee Bible Institute. He pastored three small churches in rural Ohio for five years. In 1957 he was called to serve as Pastor of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Oshkosh where he was Sole Pastor and then Senior Pastor for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. In retirement, in 1993, he was called to serve at Community Church of Oshkosh where he served until his death. He was a member of the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference where he held many offices including national President.

Pastor Lynn is survived by his wife of 66 years; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Greg Botz; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Kris Scovil of Greeley, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Reisig of Scottsbluff, NE; Jarin (Sarah Jennings) Scovil of Laramie, WY; and Lindsay (Ryan) Dove of Houston, TX; 6 great grandchildren: Glen, Faith, Kaden, Katherine, Mikhela, and Benjamin; and one brother, John (Rita) Scovil of Ft. Worth, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.

A Memorial Service for Pastor Lynn will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at Community Church of Oshkosh, 2351 Ryf Rd., with Pastors Larry Scovil, Alan Cleveland, Rick Hopkins, and David Eisley officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.

A memorial in Pastor Lynn's name will be established at Plymouth Congregational Church and Community Church of Oshkosh.
