Handrich, Rollin Douglas

Rollin Douglas Handrich, age 64, of Berlin, died peacefully on Wednesday June 12, 2013, at the Juliette Manor Nursing Home of Berlin.

He was born on December 18, 1948, at the Berlin Memorial Hospital the son of Henry Albert and Emma Louise (Grimm) Handrich.

Doug was a graduate of the Berlin High School and then served his country in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam from 1973 to 1977.

He is a member of the Saint John Lutheran Church of Berlin. He was employed as a bartender at Clem's Bar, Berlin Lanes, Misty Inn, all of Berlin and then worked for the City of Berlin for 10 years in grounds-keeping at the Oakwood Cemetery of Berlin.

He suffered a stroke some time ago and then became a resident of the Juliette Manor Nursing Home of Berlin.

Survivors include his brother, Robert (Alice) Handrich of Princeton also other distant relatives and his loyal friends that helped watch over him after his stroke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David, his uncle Leo and his two aunts, Viola and his aunt that was like a mother to him, Lydia Handrich.

A special thank you to the Staff of the Juliette Manor, of Berlin and Agnesian Hospice Hope for all of their kindness, care and love given to Rollin, during these final years.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 19, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home of downtown Berlin with the Pastor Bryan Lundquist officiating and burial will be in the West Bloomfield Concordia Lutheran Cemetery on Thursday.

Relatives and friends may visit and pay their respects to Doug on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Wiecki-Skipchak Funeral Home.
