Schwochert, Theodore

Theodore "Ted" Schwochert, age 83, of Oshkosh, passed away, surrounded by his family at Mercy Medical Center, on Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was born on January 30, 1931 in Montello, son of the late Frank and Nona (Pahl) Schwochert. He proudly served his country in Korea as a member of the United States Army. He married Helen Schaefer on June 8, 1957 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wautoma. Ted worked for and retired from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in 1987 after 34 years of Service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors at his cabin with his family and brother, Paul. His hobbies included attending auctions, E-bay, making maple syrup, cutting fire wood, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Jim (Annette) and two grandchildren: Jacob and Zachary, all of Oshkosh; daughter, Sue Schroeder of Oshkosh; three brothers: Paul of Montello, Dick (Catherine) of Burlington, and Ray (Dorothy) of Spooner; sister, Rita Campbell of Alta Loma, CA; Cribbage partner and friend, Bonnie Jungwirth; five sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, Tom; two brothers: John and Dan; and four brothers-in-law.



A memorial service celebrating Ted's life will be at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Seefeld Funeral Home, with Fr. William Van De Kreeke officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Military Honors will follow the service. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park at a later date.

The family extends a special thank you to the caring staff at Mercy Medical Center and Heartland Hospice for their outstanding and compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Ted's name is being established.
