Prellwitz, Barbara Jean

Barbara Jean Prellwitz (nee Culver), 78, Menasha, was called home to our Lord on February 5, 2014, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Barbara was born in Oakfield, WI, on October 27, 1935, to the late Kenneth and Coral (Bennett) Culver. Barbara grew up on a farm in Pickett, WI, and graduated from Ripon High School and St. Agnes School of Nursing, Fond du Lac, WI. On September 22, 1956, she was united in marriage to Richard Prellwitz in Ripon. He preceded her in death in 2007. Richard and Barbara lived in the Ripon area for many years and raised their four sons. Barbara worked as an R.N. for over thirty years, mainly in geriatric nursing and retired in 1995. After retirement, Richard and Barbara enjoyed the company of their children and grandchildren as well as travelling. Barbara also worked as a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Appleton.

Barbara was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Arden Stobb of Ripon, and her brother Ronald Culver of Fisk. She is survived by her four sons, Thomas (Terrie) Prellwitz, Appleton; Matthew Prellwitz, Menasha; Dr. John (Sue) Prellwitz, Malone, WI; Andrew (Tina) Prellwitz, Appleton; and ten grandchildren, Aaron, Bradley, Catherine, Emily, Graham, Jacob, John Jr., Joseph, Joshua and Sarah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Culver of Fisk; and two brothers-in-law, Jim (Nancy) Prellwitz, Wales, WI; and Jerry (Laurie) Prellwitz, Green Bay. Barbara had wished to pass on her thanks to Dr. Shanthi Joseph, Dr. Timothy Goggins, and Hospice services of St. Paul, Kaukauna and Affinity Hospice of Fond du Lac. A service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Appleton, 325 E. Franklin Street on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. Rev. Krystal Goodger will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's name to the Appleton Food Pantry.
