Barbara Petersen Obituary
Petersen, Barbara S.

Barbara S. Petersen, 71, of Oshkosh went to be with her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, peacefully, at home on Monday, February 10, 2014. She was born in Oshkosh on January 14, 1943. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1961. She furthered her education at Wartburg College. In 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Tom Petersen, in Colorado Springs, while he was serving in the military. In 1964, while stationed in Germany, they were blessed with their daughter, Paula. Their son, David, was born in Oshkosh in 1965.

Barb was an accomplished pianist. Starting at age 12, she taught piano lessons and played the organ at churches. In 1980, after three years in real estate, she began her celebrated career in Mary Kay, ultimately reaching her goal of becoming Sr. Sales Director. Above and through it all, after putting her faith in Christ as her Lord and Savior, she studied the Word of God and used her God given gift for teaching, by leading group Bible Studies throughout the last 40 plus years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce, and father, Lester Reinich and beloved niece, Becky Grimm. Barbara is loved and will be missed by her loving husband of 52 years, Tom Petersen; daughter, Paula (Bill) Tellock; son, David (Carlene) Petersen; grandchildren, Cory (Becca) Tellock and soon to be great grandbaby Tellock, Jared (Kendra) Petersen, and Kyle Petersen; sister, Helen (Jon) Grimm; niece, Jenni (Brian) Langkau; and aunt, Sue Kersztyn.

A funeral service for Barb will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, Rev. Rick Hopkins officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 - 6 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside and on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Barb's family cannot thank the Lord enough for the care provided by the entire team at the Lombardi Cancer Clinic, the special hospice nurses, Carolyn and Tammy, and the dedicated prayers and support from friends and family throughout the past 5 years. A memorial fund in Barb's name is being established, donations will be given to the Valley Christian School.
