Schmid, Marion C.

Marion C. Schmid, age 88 of Oshkosh, passed away Monday, Feb. 17, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by family. She was born in Oshkosh, on March 23, 1925, daughter of Adolph and Mary Bloesl. Marion married Will Schmid in Oshkosh, on May 24, 1952. She was a lifetime member of St. Vincent's Church. In her early years, she worked for Bernsteins Candy and Radtke Devoe.

Marion was ALWAYS the life of the party and enjoyed countless wonderful times with family and friends. She taught many a child the art of playing cards and dice and didn't hesitate to collect her winning. Saturday mornings at Nigl's playing cribbage, trips to the casinos, vodka tonic "with lemon and mushrooms, and laughter, were a must.

Marion is survived by her son, Tim Schmid (Barb), Shawano; daughter, Sue Schmid, Oshkosh; stepgrandson, Rick Stezenski; step great-grandchildren, Amanda and Emily; brother-in-law, Ves Schmid; sisters-in-law, Vi Schmid, and Phyllis Bloesl; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Will; son, John, brothers Audy, Art, Franz ,Royal, and sister, Minnie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22, at 11 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Church (formerly St. Vincents), with the Rev. William Van De Kreek officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Poklasny Funeral Home on Friday, from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service following. Visitation will also be held at the church at 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.

In lieu of flowers a memorial continues to John W. Schmid memorial fund.

A special thank you to Dr. Karen Gremminger, her two caregivers, Phyllis Bloesl and Betty Dorow, as well as family, friends and neighbors for ALL your help over the years. You are all angels on earth.
