Thom, Ardene A.
Ardene A. Thom, age 89, of Berlin, died peacefully early Friday morning, February 28, 2014, at Juliette Manor Nursing Home of Berlin.
Ardene was born on March 13, 1924, in Racine, one of the twin daughters of Frank and Wayve Atkins Ocain. She was a graduate of Redgranite High School, with the class of 1942.
She married Ervin K. Thom on March 17, 1945, at Eastside Lutheran Church of Madison. They shared 55 loving years together before his death on May 3, 2000. During their years' together they were blessed with a daughter, Karen and 4 sons, Russell, Eugene, Gerald, and Charles. They completed their families with dear son and daughters-in-law, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ardene was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Berlin, a former member of the Jolly Jills Homemakers of the Berlin area. She was the heart of her home, her joy was her family, sharing her cooking, watching westerns and especially wrestling matches with her grandsons on TV. She was supportive of the hunting seasons with food and encouragement for all. She also enjoyed her winters in Texas with her Ervin, and bingo with the girls.
Ardene is survived by; daughter, Karen (Richard) Schultz, of Appleton; four sons, Russell (Kathleen) Thom, Eugene (Kathleen) Thom, Gerald (Susan) Thom, and Charles (Deborah) Thom, all of Berlin; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, twin sister, Adalyn, of Phoenix, AZ; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Ervin, grandson, Steven, and brother, Wayne.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John Lutheran Church of Berlin. The Pastor Bryan Lundquist will be officiating. Burial will take place at the Foster Road Cemetery of Redgranite.
Relatives and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Saint John Lutheran church of Berlin.
Ardene's family would like to especially thank the caregivers of Juliette Manor ; who enriched her life with their wonderful care , support, and love.
