Nowak, Robert A.

Robert Anthony Nowak, age 74 of rural Redgranite, passed away Monday evening, March 3, 2014, at his home in the town of Warren. He was born on the family farm in the town of Warren, April 12, 1939, the son of Anthony Lawrence and Gertrude Vivian (Schmackel) Nowak. He was raised in the town of Warren and attended the Redgranite school.

Bob worked on the family farm, was employed as a milk hauler, and also worked for Roger Merrick. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator with the 163rd. Transportation Company, Fourth Army stationed in Fort Sill, OK. Upon being honorably discharged from active duty, Bob continued his service to his country as a reservist in Milwaukee, WI, until 1972, when he was honorably discharged. During his time living in Milwaukee, Bob worked as a laborer and then as a heavy equipment operator for Guenther-Wagner-Johnson General Contractors of West Allis. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #139. He retired at age 63, and returned to Redgranite.

Bob had been married to JoAnn Kmetz. He was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redgranite, where he served as an usher. He enjoyed nature and watching the deer at his home.

Survivors include his son, Robbie (Karen) Nowak of Theresa; a daughter, Bobbi Nowak of Waukesha; and 3 grandchildren, Alyssa Nowak of Waukesha; and Rachel and Kerstin Nowak of Theresa. Bob is also survived by his dear friend of 26 years, Ginger Gabriel of rural Redgranite; 3 sisters, Alice (Phil) Testin of Wild Rose; Carol (Bob) Lehr of Wautoma; and Donna (the late Jim) Patterson of Winneconne; his good friend, Jim (Roberta) Clark of Redgranite; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Gertrude Nowak; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Charles Koechell; and his brother-in-law, Jim Patterson.

SERVICES: Funeral Services for Robert A. Nowak will be held Friday, March 7, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 330 Foster Road in Redgranite. The Rev. Gregory Sluke, Pastor will officiate. Following these Services, Bob will be laid to rest in the Redgranite Foster Road Cemetery.

VISITATION: Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday morning only, prior to the time of Services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite.
