Davis, William

William "Bill" R. Davis, age 78, of Oshkosh, passed away Tuesday morning, August 19, 2014, at home after a long battle with cancer. Born on June 20, 1936, the son of Marvin and Beatrice (Brigham) Davis, Bill married Mary L. Romme on October 25, 1958, at Peace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.

Serving with the U.S. Air Force, Bill proudly served his country from 1954 to 1958. He was employed at Castle-Pierce Printing Company for 34 years as a pressman until his retirement and met with his fellow CP retirees monthly until his health declined. Bill enjoyed his morning coffee at Micky D's with his brother Ron and the guys along with the Wednesday and Sunday evenings at Mike's Place with his brother. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church since 1958 and was proud of his volunteer time with the Lutheran Food Pantry.

Even though Bill really did not like to travel, he did enjoy his trips throughout the states, including Hawaii, cruises to the Caribbean, winter time in Florida, and especially spending time in California with son, Dave. He was even known to take an occasional trip to a casino. Bill was a true fan of NASCAR, Brewers, and Packers. His boys, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren (Bapa) were his life.

Survivors include his wife Mary of Oshkosh; two sons, David B. Davis of Elk Grove, California, and Michael (Lori) Davis of Neenah; David's family, daughter, Nicole Berndt of Oshkosh, and grandchildren, Mason, Peyton, and Ashton; daughter, Lindsey Hayes of Oshkosh, and grandchildren, Alexis and AJ; Michael and Lori's family, son, Bradley (Kurstin Wiewel) Davis of Oshkosh; son, Neal (Lauren) Davis of Greenville; a brother, Ronald H. (Jayne) Davis of Oshkosh; a sister, Donna Morgan of Oshkosh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Dick Rutledge, Carol and Tom Bast, Tom and Audra Romme, and Jim and Deborah Romme; and many special nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death are his parents, step-mother, Grandma Jo, step-father, Grandpa Sy, father and mother in law, Ray and Bernice Romme, brother and sister in law, Bill Romme and Jean Schlaeger, and a nephew, Paul Davis.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 12 Noon, in Peace Lutheran Church, 240 W. 9th Ave., with Reverend John Warzola-Dumke officiating. Interment will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Lake View Memorial Park where full Military Honors will be given. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's memory may be given to Peace Lutheran Church and Aurora Visiting Nurse Association. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.seefeldfuneral.com.

A special thank you from the family to Dr. Alzoubi, Dr. Wilson, and their staffs, Aurora VNA and Hospice, and all the prayers and support from our own Pastor John for their care and love given to Bill these past months.
