Steenberg, William David

William "Bill" Steenberg, age 71, died on Sunday, August 24, 2014, in Ft. Myers Beach, Fl, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. His fiance and best friend, Wendy, was by his side, when he passed, and his children, Julie, Shelly, and Jeffrey and his granddaughter, Miranda, were able to visit him a couple weeks earlier in Florida.

Bill owned Steenberg Homes, which was a family-owned business since 1952. He grew Steenberg Homes to 13 locations throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. Bill loved to travel the world and made many great friendships traveling with the Manufactured Housing Industry members, family, and friends!

He was a Member & recipient of the "Elmer Fry" award from Wisconsin Housing Alliance. He was also a founding member of the Oakridge Conservation Club in Brandon, WI.

Bill owned a large amount of farmland throughout the area and enjoyed crop sharing with many local farmers. Bill loved to hunt, which included deer, bear, elk, and moose throughout the US and Canada.

He also loved going to his hunting cabin in Oxbo, WI. He started going there as a child with his parents. It was probably his favorite place to be! He also had a cabin at Post Lake, WI. Summer weekends were spent there throughout the years. Memories of good times can be seen by the "writings on the bathroom wall." Great times were had with our "Post Lake Family".

Many winters were spent in Ironwood, Michigan downhill skiing where he had a mobile home. Recently, Bill and Wendy started to winter in Ft. Myers Beach, FL. Bill would walk the beach and go on "bikini watch" and always had to stop for a hot dog on the way back.

Bill was a loving, caring man who loved all his children and grandchildren very much! He had many great memories with all the people he encountered in all of his different travels!

Bill is survived by his best friend and fiancée of 25 years, Wendy Ryfinski; his children, Julie Steenberg, fiancé, Ron Thompson of Oshkosh, WI; Shelly Masters (Ross) Masters of Waxahachie, TX; and, Jeffrey Steenberg of Los Angeles, CA; and grandchild, Miranda Ramge.

Wendy's children, Andrea (Chris) Pagano Greensboro, NC; Chad (Hailey) Ryfinski of Oshkosh, WI; and Kerri (Brian) Diehls of Omro, WI.; Wendy's grandchildren, Casey Suess, Madelyn Diehls, and Lily Ryfinski, and Ava Pagano.

Bill's brother, Robert (Joanne) Steenberg; nephews, Todd and Chad (Sarah) Steenberg.

Bill's great-nephews, Noah Steenberg and Reed Steenberg and Bill's great-niece, Grace Steenberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Sally Steenberg.

Bill had many friends in all corners of this world that will also miss him.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at St. Raphael's Church (830 S. Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh, WI 54904). Mass is at 2:00 p.m. at St. Raphael's Church.
