Mary Ann Warning, age 82, of Oshkosh, died Thursday morning, August 11, 2011, at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh. Born on July 29, 1929, in Oshkosh, to George and Ruth (Preslicka) Tomashek, Mary Ann married Walter O. Warning on September 2, 1950, in Oshkosh, and he preceded her in death on February 12, 1985.
A well-known local political figure, Mary Ann served as Town of Oshkosh Clerk and on the Town of Oshkosh Board of Supervisors. Later, she served on the Winnebago County Board of Supervisors and the Winnebago County Board of Adjustment. In all over 25 years of service to Oshkosh and Winnebago County, having never lost an election. She was lastly employed as a real estate broker for ERA Lakeland Reality until her retirement. Mary Ann enjoyed playing cards (cribbage and sheepshead), fishing, traveling, and was an excellent cook of the wild game that was supplied by her sons.
Left to mourn her passing are three sons, Mark (Patricia) Warning, Jon (Constance) Warning, both of Oshkosh, and Michael "Mick" (Diane) Warning, of Pine River; and three grandchildren, Sally, Samuel, and Andrew Warning.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in Seefeld Family of Funeral Chapels, 1025 Oregon Street. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Monday from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. A memorial is being established by the family in honor of their mother's memory.
