Eunice E. Nelson, age 109 of Oshkosh died Saturday morning August 20, 2011 at her home with her family by her side. Eunice was born January 19, 1902 to William T.C. and Emma Matilda (Barrington) Stinemates in Waupaca, WI. Eunice graduated from Waupaca High School in 1920. She married Harold H. Nelson on December 27, 1921. They lived in Waupaca and later to Oshkosh. Eunice worked at the Boston Store later became Johnson Hills Dept. Store where she retired in January of 1964.
Eunice is survived by two daughters: Ellen (Dane) Dahl and Lois (Robert) Angle. Nine grandchildren: Daria (Dick) Skibba, Nelson (Pam) Dahl, Andrea (Coral) Mangus (Dahl), Susan (Michael) Mears, Gifford (Nenita) Angle, Christine (Ronald) Gutzman, Robin (Janet) Angle, Joanne (Marty) Augsburger and Cynthia Angle. Twenty one great grandchildren: Stacy Skibba, Chris Skibba, Tyler Dahl, Adam Dahl, Nathan (Amber) Dahl, Mark Mears, Anthony (Heather) Zahner, Geoffrey Angle, Heather Angle, Christopher (Sarah) Angle, Nici Retelle, Jennifer (John) Jorgensen, Sara Bautista, Alicia Angle, Katie Angle, Jennifer Fahser, Jason Sprague, Stacy Sprague, Joshua Augsburger, Jake Augsburger and Brad Augsburger. Twenty one great great grandchildren: Stephen Kopecky, Ellyanna Dahl, Cali Jones, Samuel Chamberlin, Gracie-Jean Zahner, James Zahner, Genna Williams, Jordon Retelle, Destini Schroeder, Matthew Jorgensen, Aaron Jorgensen, Ryan Jorgensen, Megan Jorgensen, Jenna Bautista, Hannah Bautista, Kenneth Angle, Kennedy Angle, Mariah Fahser, Timmy Augsburger, Aiyden Augsburger, Camden Augsburger and Carston Augsburger. She is also survived by several relatives and friends. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two son-in-laws, Dane Dahl and Robert Angle. Also a family friend Bob Thiesen. Two brothers, two sisters, one brother-in-law and two great grandchildren, Bobby Gutzman and Danny Augsburger.
Eunice enjoyed traveling, her crafts, needlepoint, crocheting, putting puzzles together and word search books, watching Green Bay Packers, the Brewers and the Cubs. And up to about a year ago she was active in playing cards with her friends at Heritage Court Apartments, where she lived for the last fourteen years. Eunice was a longtime member of Algoma Blvd United Methodist Church and the Women's Society, The White Shrine of Jerusalem, Honorary member of Eastern Star, Neighborhood Senior Center and a volunteer at EAA.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday August 27, 2011 at 3pm at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Yarbro will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1pm until the time of service. Private committal services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Waupaca, WI.
Eunice's family would like to Thank the Oshkosh Police and Fire Departments and Donna the Deputy Coroner for the care that was given to Eunice and the family. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Eunice's name.
