Joyce M. (Meitzen) Bathke was taken home to be with her Lord and reunite with her husband, Sonny, on Tues., Dec. 27, 2011.

Joyce was born in Oshkosh, Wl. and was the youngest child of eleven born to Gustuv and Clara Meitzen on October 8, 1928. Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Ruben R. Bathke, Jr., on May 16, 1947. Joyce and Sonny were married for 64 years.

In her younger years, Joyce was a seasonal employee at Miles Kimball Co., always wanting to ensure a nice Christmas for her family. In later years, she worked in Food Service at Mercy Medical Center and Winnebago Mental Health Institute where she had made many special friendships. She retired from WMHI after 25 years and continued those friendships throughout the years.

During her retirement, Joyce and Sonny loved to travel to Branson, MO, and Nashville, TN, where she shared Sonny's love of music. Joyce's passion was spending quality time with each of her nine grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed baking, especially at Christmas, which was her favorite holiday. Everyone looked forward to her homemade candy and cookies. Her other hobbies included knitting for her family and friends, as well as sewing. Joyce loved football and was a dedicated Packer fan! One of her greatest gifts was her ability to "give" to others rather than to "receive."

Joyce is survived by her four children: Gail (Peter) Schabloski of Oshkosh, Wendy (Jim) Burns of Louisville, Ky., LeAnne (Ron) Burns of Oshkosh, and Christopher Bathke of Oshkosh; eight grandchildren, Alyssa Schabloski of Santa Monica, Ca., Malori Schabloski, Oshkosh, Lindsay Burns, Chattanooga, TN., Scott Burns, Appleton, Kristin (Jeremiah) Webb, Menasha, Lydia Burns, Oshkosh, Bethany Bathke, Oshkosh and Ben Bathke, Oshkosh. Further survived by Earl (Alice) Meitzen, brother, and Beverly Burlage, sister-in-law, Lombard, IL. Joyce was preceded in death by nine siblings and her husband Ruben R. Bathke and granddaughter, Andrea Schabloski.

Funeral services for Joyce will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside (100 Lake Pointe Drive) with the Rev. Tim Greenwald officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to the service time. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Bella Vista Assisted Living for providing Joyce with a comfortable and safe home. A "special" thanks to the staff at Parkview Health Care Center for their devoted time, concern and care during her short stay there.
