Myrna Irene Preston, age 97 of Redgranite passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 5, 2012 at her home. Myrna was born September 25, 1914 in the Township of Marion, Waushara County, a daughter of Walter Joseph and Agnes Almira (Wilcox) Berry. She married James Roy Preston December 23, 1938 in Valparaiso, Indiana.

Myrna was raised on a farm in Waushara County. In 1938 she went to Oak Park, Illinois to keep house. She eloped December 23, 1938 to Valparaiso, Indiana. In 1942, she moved to a farm outside of Wautoma. In 1953, she moved to Redgranite, where she has lived until the present time.
She was an accomplished seamstress, working from her home. She loved to crochet, knit, and quilt. Myrna won many blue ribbons. Undaunted by challenges, as a middle aged woman, she learned to play the piano, ride a bike, cane furniture, paint and refinish furniture. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Myrna was an active, faithful member of the Redgranite First Congregationall United Church of Christ, and the Ladies Guild of the Church. She was also a member of the Redgranite Women's Club.
Myrna is survived by her husband of 73 years, James Roy Preston of Redgranite, her son, Steve (Mary) Preston of Greenville, WI, and her daughter, Jane (Dennis) Fielding of Zion, Illinois. She is also survived by a grandson, a great-granddaughter, 4 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, 3 nephews, other relatives and friends.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Fern Berry, Pearl Zuelke, and Genevieve Gomoll, a sister-in-law, Mary Isaac, and a nephew, Marvin Zuelke.
FUNERAL SERVICES for Myrna I. Preston will be held today, Tuesday, April 10th. at 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Redgranite. The Rev. Dorothy Heckner Mendonca, Pastor will officiate. (The Church is located on the East side of Redgranite, South of Highway 21, across from the Shell Station.) Myrna will be laid to rest in the Redgranite Foster Road Cemetery.
FRIENDS MAY CALL at the Church from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Tuesday morning (This Morning) prior to the time of Services.
