David Ziehm Obituary

David A. Ziehm, age 88, of Berlin, died peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at American House in Berlin.

He was born February 16, 1924 in Berlin, WI, the son of Julius C and Marguerite H. Margraff Ziehm. Dave was confirmed in the last class at the congregational church by Rev. Thoms. He attended Lincoln and Washington grade schools, and graduated from Berlin High School in 1941.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service, he attended and graduated from Carroll College in 1950, where he was a member of both the Zeta Chi and Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternities. Dave retired from Rexall Drug Co. in 1982 following 32 years of service as a Sales Representative, Franchise Manager, and District Manager in the mid-west and west coast. After retiring, Dave returned to Berlin due to the declining health of his Mother, and like her, he was an avid gardener raising lovely flowers and vegetables.

Dave was a member of Grace English Lutheran Church, Elks Lodge #292 of Oshkosh, O'Connor-Chiers American Legion Post #340 in Berlin, and the National Audubon Society.

He is survived by his son, Donald (Mindy) of San Clemente, CA; a daughter, Carol of Mission Viejo, CA; two sisters, Kathryn of Sarasota, FL, and Carolyn of Racine. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dr. Robert Ziehm.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace English Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Scott Piper officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, December 11 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barbola Funeral Chapel and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be given to Grace Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at barbolafc@yahoo.com.
