Gwen Marx Obituary
Marx, Gwendolyn G.

Gwen G. Marx (nee Emmrich), 90, passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2013 at Oakwood Manor. Gwen was born October 2, 1922 in Koro, WI, the daughter of Henry and Vera (Sawyer) Emmrich. She grew up in the Rush Lake area, attended Foote School, and graduated from Omro High School. On March 21, 1942, Gwen married Marvin G. Marx at Grace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. In 1946 they built, owned, and operated Marx Grocery, Cold Storage, and Meat Processing Plant in Ring, WI (Winnebago County, town of Nekimi). This is where they raised their family and ran the business in partnership for 27 years (now operating as Beck's Meats).

Gwen enjoyed duck carving, pottery, and large puzzles, but in spring and summer she could be found toiling in her flower and vegetable gardens. She especially enjoyed going "up north" with the family and friends to play cards or snowmobile at the cabin shared with Lorraine and Donald Marx (now deceased).

Gwen is survived by her loving and caring children; daughters, Sharon Wegner (Fritz Malzahn) of West Pickett and Deb (John) Moon and son, Wayne (Carol) Marx of Oshkosh. She is also survived by and always enjoyed seeing her seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, Amy (Shane) Wondra; Cindy (Joe) Docter, Emily, Heidi, and Annie; Ben (Amy) Wegner, Jeremy and Theresa of Ripon; Stacy (Jeffery) Weister, Casey and Kyle; Brian (Robin) Marx, Gracie and Abigail of Oshkosh; Greg (Jennifer) Moon, Kaitlyn and Alexa of Brown Deer, WI; and Mike (Christine) Moon, Corbin, Conner, and Jordan of Salem, WI. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Claudia Emmrich of Rush Lake; Joyce (Orville) Flater of Brantwood, WI; Delores Grahn of Ripon; and Delores Marx of Ashland, OR; and many other friends and relatives.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eugene Emmrich; sister, Rose Cheney; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Bartlett) Marx; and in-laws, Donald and Lorraine Marx, Lester Marx, and LeRoy Grahn.

Funeral services for Gwen will be held Monday February 4, 2013 at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church (502 County Road M, Pickett) Rev. Jud Krohn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of services. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Memorial funds have been established for Grace Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

Gwen's family extends a special thanks to Heartland Hospice and the angels at Oakwood Manor for the loving care given to mom.
