Geldner, Dr. Barbara Janiszewska
Dr. Barbara Janiszewska Geldner, 89 of rural Redgranite, formerly of Neenah, died Saturday evening, February 9, 2013, at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born November 9, 1923, in Warsaw, Poland, the daughter of Bronislaw and Franciszka Janiszewska. She married Michael M. Geldner on December 22, 1950, in Warsaw. He preceded Dr. Barbara in death May 15, 1999, after over 48 years of marriage.
Dr. Geldner was raised in Poland and received her medical training in Opthalmology at the University of Warsaw Medical School, receiving her degree in 1951. She came to the United States with her husband and children in 1962. She practiced briefly in Monroe, Wisconsin and settled in Neenah in 1966, practicing Opthalmology for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. Since her retirement she made her home with her husband, Michael in rural Redgranite.
Barbara was an active member of the national and local medical opthalmological societies and was a staff member at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. Dr. Geldner was a faithful member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite, and the Community of Our Lady in Oshkosh.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Peter David Geldner (JuliAnn) of River Forest, Illinois; a daughter, Dr. Joanna Geldner Silverman (Alan) of Carmel, California; and four grandchildren, Michael Edwin Silverman (25), Samantha Allyn Silverman (22), Nathan Bradford Geldner (19), and Aaron Grant Geldner (17). She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Michael.
FUNERAL SERVICES for Dr. Barbara Janiszewska Geldner will be held Thursday, Feb. 14, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Redgranite, (Church Street, South of Highway 21, west side of Redgranite. Turn south at the car wash.), where the Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Father Jerome J. Taddy. Burial will be in St. Mark's Parish Cemetery, Redgranite.
VISITATION: Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Ruminski Funeral Home in Redgranite, and on Thursday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to the Mass at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Redgranite.
There will be a brief Meditation and Prayer at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
MEMORIALS for Dr. Barbara will be appreciated for the Redgranite Lions Club.
