Kuchenbecker, Douglas E.

Douglas Earl "Doug" Kuchenbecker, age of 72, Neenah, affectionately known by his family and friends as "Dug", died at his home on Monday, May 6, 2013, with his family by his side.

Doug was born on July 17, 1940, son of the late Alfred and Gertrude (Boss) Kuchenbecker Sr. Upon graduating from Neenah High School in 1958 he proudly served his country in the 32nd Division of the National Guard in Fort Lewis, WA.

Doug was a truck driver by trade for over 35 years. He worked for Kampo Transit and Schneider National until his retirement. And because he couldn't truly retire he continued to drive part-time for Trancentral Trucking. He also stayed busy with projects on the family farm and serviced his friends and family with his Amsoil business on the side.

Doug was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah. Dug was a very sociable guy. He enjoyed bowling, golf, camping with 'the group", eating out and happy hour with a vodka or two.

Doug married Judy Protheroe on his 25th birthday, July 17, 1965, so he could remember his wedding anniversary each year. They were married for 47 years.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; two daughters: Jennifer (Mark) Zanders, Pam (Brian) Piechocki; his grandchildren: Dane and Lauren Zanders, Madalyn, Gabrielle and Evan Piechocki; his big brother, Alfred (Ruth) Kuchenbecker Jr. He will also be missed by many other family members, friends and his rascally pet cat and buddy, Toes.

Doug was preceded in death by a younger brother, Eugene.

A service in celebration of Doug's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, with Rev. D.J. Engelbrecht officiating. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, and again at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
