William "Bill" A. Kingzett, age 96, of Evergreen, Oshkosh, died on Friday, August 16, 2013.
He was born February 14, 1917 in Clyde, North Dakota, to parents John H. and Garnet (Clopper) Kingzett. He graduated from Calvin High School in Calvin, North Dakota and attended the University of North Dakota.
William married Virginia A. Scott in Duluth, Minnesota, on September 2, 1939 and they made their home in Clyde, North Dakota, where he worked for the North Dakota Highway Department. He worked in the Duluth, MN shipyards for the first four years of WWII prior to serving in the Army. They had lived in the East Troy/Mukwonago area for 55 years prior to moving to Oshkosh in 2005 to be near their daughter. Bill worked for Horn, Stoecker, and Horn of Mukwonago as a plumbing and heating contractor for 45 years.
He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ of East Troy and the Knights of Pythias in Clyde, North Dakota. He and his wife were ardent fans of East Troy High School athletics.
William is survived by his wife of 74 years, Virginia; three children: Gary (Mary) of Closter, New Jersey, J. Scott (Jane) of Menonomie, WI, and Susan (Michael) McFarlane of Oshkosh; three grandchildren: Diane (Garth) Ankeny of Portland, OR, Julie (Paul) Farrell of Cologne, MN, and Jason (Melissa) Marggraf of Sturgeon Bay, WI; three great-grandchildren: Alex and Addy Farrell, and Maura Marggraf; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Lucille and Olive; and brothers: Charles, Alvin, J.C., and Frank.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 at Evergreen Chapel, 1130 N. Westfield St., Oshkosh, WI 54902. Friends will be received at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, East Troy, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill's name may be given directly to the Evergreen Foundation, 1130 N. Westfield St., Oshkosh, WI 54902.
