Schettl, Ralph F.
Ralph F. Schettl, age 85, of Oshkosh, died Friday September 27, 2013 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born in Oshkosh on January 31, 1928 the son of the late Frank and Anna Lemberger Schettl. Ralph served his country during WW II and the Korean War in The U. S. Navy. He married Dorothy Kossl on June 25, 1949. Ralph was employed as a Gas Service technician for fourty-two years with Wisconsin Public Service. He enjoyed racing pigeons, and was a member of The Oshkosh Racing Pigeon Club, playing bingo, and taking trips to Oneida. Ralph was a member of the VFW, WPS Men's Club, and was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons; Michael (Ann) Schettl, of Oshkosh, Phillip Schettl, Oshkosh, one daughter; Mary (Pat) Roberts, Oshkosh, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three sisters; Anna (Cliff) Frank, Oshkosh, Betty Jane Brooks, Oshkosh, Delores "Duds" Kind, Fond du Lac, and one sister-in-law; Margaret Schettl, Winneconne. Ralph is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Dorothy, two brothers; Leonard, Edwin Schettl, and one sister; Florence Berndt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 1, at 11:00 AM in St Jude The Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart worship site, corner of 6th and Knapp) with the Rev. William Van DeKreeke officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Tuesday with full military honors. Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society in his name.
