Merrick, Lanae M.

Lanae M. Merrick (nee Smerling) age 46, of Berlin, WI was called home to our Lord after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

The memory of her beauty, grace, and love of life cannot be defined by this disease.

Lanae was born on January 22, 1967 to Lyle and Margaret (nee Mitchell) Smerling.

After graduating from Martin's Beauty School, Lanae owned and operated Lanae's Salon and Spa in Redgranite.

Lanae loved her career and all the friends she made, she also worked at the Wal-Mart in Berlin, and made many friends with her co-workers along the way.

Earlier in her life she traveled throughout the U.S. working at various horse racing tracks where she was an exercise rider. Here she helped the trainers to develop the horses into becoming derby winners. She worked for trainer Carl Nafzger's Kentucky Derby winner of 'Unbridled" in 1990, one of many horses she exercised to become derby winners.

Lanae was devoted to her children, family, and her friends and took every opportunity to be there for them.

Those Lanae leaves behind to honor and cherish her memory include her children; Gavin and Carley Merrick of Redgranite, her parents, Lyle and Margaret Smerling of Berlin, sister, Julie Smerling (special friend (Gene Langenecker) of Oshkosh, brothers, Anthony of Oshkosh and Darren of Berlin, her special friends, Nicole (Brian) Ferron, Melody Sohm and Rick Daul, also many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.

We will miss your beautiful smile, your courage, your strength and your generosity. Your memory will remain a lasted treasure that will last a lifetime.
