Pongratz, Marie

Marie F. Pongratz, age 81, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday evening, January 5, 2014, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh after a courageous battle from breast cancer and Lewey Body Dementia. Marie was born August 27, 1932, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Olies and Mary (Greiner) Hannes. She married Ray Pongratz on August 21, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. He passed away April 2, 2006. Marie loved spending time with her family. She was well known for her fashion style of wearing beads. Marie enjoyed playing Bingo, her doll collection and making her homemade bread. She had worked in housekeeping at Berlin Memorial Hospital.

Marie is survived and will be missed by sons, Harold of Omro, William (Peggy) of Oshkosh and Frank (Lisa Delambo) of Westfield; daughters, Victoria (Dean Schommer) of Oshkosh, Laurie of Cleveland, WI and Christine of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Gwendolyn McPeake Imm (Chad Kasten), Susan Hasse, Brenda Pongratz, Tim (Amanda) Pongratz, Terry (Emily) Pongratz, Melissa Pongratz, Shawn (Elizabeth) Pongratz, Krystal Pongratz, Cody (Rebecca) Pongratz, Jamie (DJ) Henriksen, Shannon (Andrew) McGeehn, Sara (Josh) Heine, Devan (Ashley) Beal, Derek (Angela) Henriksen, Joshua Pongratz, Jeremy Pongratz, Jessica Johnson and Cory Johnson; 23 great grandchildren; brother, Tom Hannes of Green Lake; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Alvin Lee Pongratz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. with Fr. Michael Warden and Sr. Pam Biehl officiating. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oshkosh. A memorial in her name is being established.
